Insights- Business Growth Fund – Round 7

The Queensland Government’s Business Growth Fund Round 7 is now open, offering grants to eligible small and family businesses looking to accelerate their growth. The BGF aims to help businesses purchase specialized equipment that will increase productivity, boost efficiency, and open up new markets, including export opportunities.

Key Details:

  • Grant Amount: Between $50,000 and $75,000 (excluding GST)

  • Co-contribution: Businesses must contribute at least 50% of the total project cost.

  • Payment Structure: Funding will be distributed across 3 payments when milestones are met.

To be eligible you must:

  • Be a Queensland business with less than 20 employees (full time, part time or casual).

  • Have annual turnover between $500,000 and $10 million in the 2024-25 financial year.

  • Have been in operation for at least 3 years and demonstrated 2 years of high growth (20% average annual increase in turnover and/or employment).

  • Have a registered ABN and GST status.

  • Be financially sound (not insolvent or with bankrupt Directors)

Program Objectives:
The BGF supports businesses that are:

  • Transitioning from small to medium size.

  • Seeking to increase productivity, turnover, and employment by 20%.

  • Ready to scale, diversify, and explore exporting opportunities.

Application Process:
The application process is a 2-stage process:

  1. Stage 1: Registration of Interest
    Deadline: 5pm, 30 January 2026
    Submit a project proposal detailing how specialized equipment will improve business growth, productivity, and create new employment opportunities .

  2. Stage 2: Full Application
    If your registration is successful, you will be invited to submit a full application, which will be competitively assessed.

How to Apply:
Applications are to be submitted via the SmartyGrants portal. Ensure you have an active SmartyGrants account to apply.
